Job Opening: City of Auburn Community Development Manager

The City of Auburn has an exciting opportunity for a self-directed business and
community minded person to work as a member of Auburn’s Business and Community
Development team. This fulltime position requires a high level of organizational, interpersonal,
and public relations skills. The successful candidate must enjoy working on a variety of
different projects with competing demands and hard deadlines in an environment which is
highly regulatory.

The Community Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and
managing the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and HOME
Consortium funds and any other Federal funding awarded that aligns with the Department’s
goals. This highly confidential job includes creating and implementing a five-year Consolidated
Plan for Housing and Community Development and a five-year Analysis of Impediments to Fair
Housing Choice, as required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This
position is a management and supervisory role reporting to the Director of Business and
Community Development. The candidate will maintain a collaborative and cooperative working
relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations,
and the citizens of Auburn. The job occasionally requires field inspections of projects.

A background in economic development, real estate, finance, business,
marketing, commercial banking, and grants administration is desirable. This position
also requires excellent written and oral skills, finance, accounting and budgeting, public
speaking skills, and excellent computer skills. This position periodically requires attendance at
City Council and other meetings in the evening and/or early morning.

Salary range for this position is $55,107 to $74,412 and is dependent upon experience

Job Opening: Part Time Executive Director – Main Street Bucksport

Main Street Bucksport, a Maine Downtown Center and Main Street America Affiliate Program is a non-profit organization located in Bucksport, Maine. We are a volunteer organization dedicated to building a more vibrant and sustainable downtown Bucksport. We are in need of an outgoing, personable, organized, enthusiastic individual who can coordinate, recruit, and lead a group of volunteer citizens as they work towards the organization’s mission.

The work is stimulating, challenging, and rewarding as Bucksport continues its progress into the future. Experience in any of the following is desired; economic development, event management, grant writing, organizational fundraising, website maintenance, marketing, and nonprofit administration.

Job Opening: Town of Bowdoinham – Planning & Development Director

The Town of Bowdoinham is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Planning & Development Director. Job Opening: Town of Lisbon – Part -Time Summer Event/ Moxie Festival Coordinator

This is a part-time temporary position reporting to the Parks and Recreation Director, while working in
collaboration with the Town of Lisbon Departments and Moxie Committee. Working with internal staff and
community members, the Coordinator handles all event planning, volunteer coordination, and administrative
duties for the Moxie Festival.

The successful candidate will provide energy, creativity and community relations expertise that will make a
substantial impact on the Summer Event Series and also the Moxie Festival while enhancing the image and
positive relationships of the Town of Lisbon.
The summer event series coordinator will work with local businesses, volunteers, and Town staff to plan, and
implement a range of events at a variety of locations.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in marketing, public or community relations, event planning
• Experience in planning and implementing events including expertise in attracting sponsorships; proven track
record in developing and implementing promotion plans; print production expertise associated with
fundraising events.
• Extensive experience facilitating committee meetings.
• Extensive experience working with local businesses and donors, as well as managing, supervising and
orienting volunteers for events. Media relations experience is an asset.
• Project Management, organizational and prioritizing skills; problem solving and organizational skills; attention
to detail is imperative.
• The ability to work well independently and multi-task, as well as the ability to work with a diverse group of
individuals in a team environment (ranging from the moxie committee, corporate leaders, staff and
volunteers).
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication, organizational, customer service and creative thinking
skills to ensure a professional execution of all related special events. Software proficiency in Microsoft Word,
Excel, Power Point.

The Program Director is responsible for coordinating all program activities and volunteers, as well as representing the community regionally and nationally as appropriate. In addition, the Program Director should help guide the organization as its objectives evolve. As mentioned above it is the Saco Main Street’s intent that this position will transition to the Executive Director role by the end of 2021.

Saco Main Street is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2002. Since that time the organization has worked to spearhead revitalization of the downtown area. Efficiency Maine Funding Opportunity Aims to Help Municipalities Accelerate Conversion to Efficient Heating and Lighting Solutions

Augusta, Maine – Feb. 2, 2020 – Maine municipalities with 4,000 residents or fewer have an opportunity to apply for enhanced incentives from Efficiency Maine for high-performance heat pumps and LED lighting projects in municipal buildings. By launching this limited-time offer, Efficiency Maine aims to accelerate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning upgrades and lighting conversions in municipal buildings.

Eligible buildings that qualify for this enhanced incentive are community centers; fire stations; police stations; public safety buildings (combined fire and police services); public works facilities (office garages, bus garages); and town halls, libraries, sewer districts, and water districts. Outbuildings, such as sport, storage, and playground buildings; schools; pump stations; and modular nonpermanent structures are not eligible.

Funds for eligible accepted projects are provided by Efficiency Maine’s Commercial and Industrial Prescriptive Program with an additional contribution from The Nature Conservancy in Maine.

“Small municipalities are especially susceptible to budget constraints that would prevent them from upgrading municipal buildings,” said Rick Meinking, senior program manager for Commercial Initiatives at Efficiency Maine. “We’re pleased to be working with The Nature Conservancy in Maine to help these municipalities improve energy efficiency and lower energy costs.”

The heat pump incentives are $2,600 per single-zone system with a maximum of three systems, or $7,800. Efficiency Maine is contributing $1,600 of the $2,600 and The Nature Conservancy is contributing $1,000. This limited-time offer will support the installation of 100 heat pumps. Lighting incentives, provided solely by Efficiency Maine, include a fixed price per kilowatt hour saved in the first year and are subject to a cap of 90% of the total cost.

“The Nature Conservancy is committed to supporting Maine communities’ transitions to clean, efficient sources of energy,” said Kate Dempsey, state director for The Nature Conservancy in Maine. “We’re excited to collaborate with Efficiency Maine on this initiative to help small municipalities reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs.”

The limited-time offer began on December 29, 2020. The application deadline is March 31, 2021. Accepted projects must be complete by June 1, 2021. Interested municipalities can get more information about this funding opportunity on the Efficiency Maine website.

Efficiency Maine’s Commercial and Industrial Prescriptive Program offers fixed incentives to reduce the cost of projects and to improve energy efficiency for various sectors, including businesses, municipalities, schools and higher education facilities, manufacturing and other industrial facilities, as well as other non-residential facilities, and multifamily and condominium buildings with five or more units.
