Job Opening: City of Auburn Community Development Manager

The City of Auburn has an exciting opportunity for a self-directed business and
community minded person to work as a member of Auburn’s Business and Community
Development team. This fulltime position requires a high level of organizational, interpersonal,
and public relations skills. The successful candidate must enjoy working on a variety of
different projects with competing demands and hard deadlines in an environment which is
highly regulatory.

The Community Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and
managing the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and HOME
Consortium funds and any other Federal funding awarded that aligns with the Department’s
goals. This highly confidential job includes creating and implementing a five-year Consolidated
Plan for Housing and Community Development and a five-year Analysis of Impediments to Fair
Housing Choice, as required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This
position is a management and supervisory role reporting to the Director of Business and
Community Development. The candidate will maintain a collaborative and cooperative working
relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations,
and the citizens of Auburn. The job occasionally requires field inspections of projects.

A background in economic development, real estate, finance, business,
marketing, commercial banking, and grants administration is desirable. This position
also requires excellent written and oral skills, finance, accounting and budgeting, public
speaking skills, and excellent computer skills. This position periodically requires attendance at
City Council and other meetings in the evening and/or early morning.

Salary range for this position is $55,107 to $74,412 and is dependent upon experience
and qualifications and includes a competitive fringe benefit package. Send cover letter, resume
