Job Opening: Economic Development Specialist – Thomaston, Maine

Community Concepts, Inc. is seeking an Economic Development Specialist to work with our affiliate, Community Concepts Finance Corporation (CCFC). The Economic Development Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting, and facilitating community/economic development, business retention, expansion along with measuring the impact of this work. The Economic Development Specialist will also work directly with business loan clients to increase their ability to understand business climate and how data measurement can positively impact the growth of their small business. The Economic Development Specialist is responsible for identifying new opportunities as well as managing assigned projects within this program area and developing the impact measurement and reporting documentation to be shared with internal staff, funders, and the public. Regular travel with use of personal vehicle is required, with agency mileage reimbursement. The position is 40 hours per week. To Qualify: Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development or related field preferred, and/or 5 years of relevant professional experience. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. Must have the ability to work independently and to engage both business and community leaders as well as volunteers. Candidates must have the ability to identify and quantify relevant metrics to demonstrate service impact. Grant writing experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel and Word applications; social media platforms; database management; ability to write reports and professional business correspondence. Pre-employment SBI, DMV, DHHS, sex offender registry, federal debarment background checks and approval of the Small Business Administration. Must have and maintain a valid Maine driver’s license and a vehicle covered by liability insurance; must have a telephone.
